I’m the Nature programmer here at Kee-Mo-Kee for the second year in a row. We’re starting off teen week with a bang this year! Last night we played a game where we answered programmers’ mystery questions for points, and had our first camp fire of the week.
It was nice and hot out today so the kids were excited to go in the pool with Aqua and Simba, where they filled chaos tubes, did a deep water search, and played the game octopus with a cops and robbers twist to fit our mystery theme this week. In sports with Peanut, they played a classic favourite, gaga ball, we could hear them having fun all over camp! They did tie dye in crafts with Ducky, and it all turned out amazing. In CV, Rachel taught them about keeping an open mind and being themselves through throwing popcorn and water balloons. In my nature session we used clues to find letters hidden around the camp, then unscrambled them to reveal the word ‘Sherlock’, to go with our mystery theme.
A really cool thing that happened today was an investigation seminar through Let’s Talk Science Western, David the instructor taught us how to lift and analyze finger prints, identify a mystery powder, and examine hand writing. We used all of our new skills to look through evidence and identify our criminal through several possible suspects. The campers learned new interesting skills and I think we may have some future detectives in our midst!
Tonight we have our first night game, which is always exciting for both the kids and staff! Tomorrow, the girls will be headed off to Out-trip with Baloo, where they will play lots of fun games and spend the night in tents. The boys will stay home and play a game that is specially for them.
We’re all keeping pretty busy out here but we will be posting more updates on how our week is going later this week!
I hope everyone at home is having a great week too!
