I’m the KMK Crafts Programmer for this summer.
Gone Country week is off to a galloping start! Yesterday we played the game Catch the Cow, and the campers loved it! Marvel, the Leadership Coordinator, was having campers make funny moo noises when they brought her back to main camp during the game. We also had a really fun campfire when we sang the song Ride my Pony and watched the Coyote skit. During the song I was riding my toy horse, which was a lot of fun and kept up with the Country vibe.
After a good night’s sleep we started session rotations today! In pool with Simba and Shark the campers played lots of fun country-themed games like What Time is it Mr. Cow and Cowboy Scrabble. In Nature with Mars the campers matched plants to their seeds, like corn and beans. CV with Pineapple was really cool too! The campers talked about Cowboys and their Sidekicks and the importance of friendship. In Sports with Tonto the campers pretended to be farm animals as they played four-corner soccer. In the Craft Lodge we made Sheriff badges. I’ll be gluing pins to the badges tomorrow so that the campers can wear them during the week!
The glitter glue was a hit with the Sheriff badges.
The campers are currently enjoying TUCK (totally unnecessary candy for kids) and after dinner today we are playing a Barn Yard Hunt Game where the campers have to make animals out of a bunch of different materials like skipping ropes, pylons and hoola hoops.
I’m also getting very excited for banquet with the campers; we are hosting a Country Charm theme! Today, Tonto made little hay bundles and tied baby blue ribbons around them, which looked so cute! A couple of our Volunteers are helping out with decorations as well to help banquet be the best it can!
It is raining at the moment but we are making the best of it, setting up some water games for pool and hanging out on the Breezeway during TUCK. It’s going to be a good week and a fun one for your campers!
Enjoy your week!
