Camping for Everyone
At Camp Kee-Mo-Kee we believe that everybody should have the opportunity to not only come to camp, but also have a good experience while here. We pride ourselves in creating an inclusive environment for all campers and staff that allows each individual to experience camp to its full potential. Some of the ways we do so is:
- Working with Reach for the Rainbow: This program allows campers who need extra assistance to come to camp because of our 1 on 1 support counsellors. Campers are paired with a counsellor who is responsible for their physical, emotional and mental well being, while also getting them immersed into the camp environment. Our staff are trained to use various inclusive strategies with RFTR participants, as well all other campers.
- Recognition of similarities: Camp starts each week with various cooperative and get to know you games, in order to show campers the similarities they all have. Finding similarities allows campers time to bond, while showing them that they must respect each others differences.
- Exploration of faith: Camp Kee-Mo-Kee is run by the United Church of Canada and works to uphold the values of the church. In doing so, we encourage campers to respect the culture and religion of their peers, and allow them opportunities to explore.
- Subsidy programs: At Kee-Mo-Kee we believe that every child should have the opportunity to come to camp. Subsidy may be available for those who are in need of some assistance. Please contact the Camp Director to discuss what is available.
